Reading notes, week 3,Coolbirth
The Ina Cool birth is made up of different short poems by Josephine Donna Smith. While reading one of her poems titled Retrospect brings one through different seasonal and nature settings. I am able to imagine the setting well by imagining and analyzing some of the words the author uses such as "sunset glow, cactus hedge, gleams of orchard snow and soft coo of mourning doves". All of the descriptive words she uses paints a picture in my head of what I think she is describing. The author, Josephine also says " one moment all the world is peace" (231) which leaves me thinking all the places she mentioned are very calming and peaceful. While reading I was able to form pictures in my head from the descriptions she gave put also how I already picture what she writes about, from my own experiences. Reading this poem left me with a peaceful feeling I imagine living in these settings and not having a care in a world knowing that there is peace within me.
