Topic Project Brainstorm

       For my first project topic, I choose to "Explore the relationship between elements of the selection. For example: how does setting influence character development?". I hope to explore this topic more because I am interested in discovering the connections between two different elements that make the plot move like it is supposed to. I have some experience when it comes to this topic and has done previous assignments doing the same thing. Often times a character does not act in a certain way without different elements interacting with them. There needs to be an interaction and relationship between two elements in a story for a plot to occur and make an interesting story that readers will want to explore more of. I hope to learn more through this assignment of how to identify the relationship between two elements more efficiently. Often times I complicate things in my writing and analyzing so choosing this topic will help me to narrow it down to choosing 2 elements and focusing on the relationship the two play.

    The second topic I hope to explore more is  "Compare and contrast elements of two different texts. For example, explore the similarities and differences between the two characters in the text, or examine how one theme is handled in similar and dissimilar ways in two different texts". I am choosing this topic to write about for the assignment because I enjoy comparing and contrasting and I think it is an important skill a writer should have and I want to get better at. Taking 2 different stories and dissecting them to find how they are similar and different, how different elements interact the same or different in the two stories is very interesting to me. By picking this project topic I hope to explore and practice more on how to take texts and pick them apart in order to compare and contrast them efficiently. I think it is very interesting how two different Authors not knowing what the story of the other author ends up writing about similar character traits or elements and I hope to explore more about how they connect if I choose this project.

        As for the third topic, I hope to "Think about a theme you see running through your life (failure is the best lesson, love is eternal, etc). Choose a reading that you think also discusses this theme (even if it reaches different conclusions about it). Explore connections between how the theme plays out in your life, and how the theme gets played out in the reading". I have chosen this topic because I find it reassuring as I am reading different stories  I am able to connect with a character or theme in the story, making me feel like I am not alone with what I am going through. I will have the previous knowledge of this topic because the theme I choose from the text is similar to what I have been through in my own life, therefore I  will be able to have insight about the chosen theme. Choosing this assignment I hope to learn more about the theme I choose and how the characters and different elements work to make the theme occur as it has. My strengths I bring to this topic will be from my past experiences, the knowledge about the lesson the characters learn will be something I have learned as well.

      Lastly, the fourth topic I choose to hopefully explore more is "Pick a subject: love, work, freedom, etc. Then choose two selections and discuss how that subject is discussed in those selections. Use literary devices to help frame your discussion". I have chosen this topic as an interest to me because the instructions are broad so I have the freedom to write how I see the best fit. I will be able to incorporate many different skills into this assignment I will need to compare 2 texts and do research to find why they share the same elements for the subject I choose. Writing about this topic I will hope to learn more about how to use different literary devices to explore the text more and find how it reflects the subject through the use of the different devices all working together. I have strengths to bring to this topic of being able to explore and identify the different literary elements used in the story.
