Reading Notes, week 7 Hughes

I read Langston Hughes writing of “Hollywood Mammy” I  have gathered that it highlights how Hollywood films and the film industry has a lot of racism and discrimination stereotyping. The sole actor a woman, who is to reflects a black stereotypical mammy. The black mammy is portraying someone she actually is not and has a different personality on to gain acceptance, an idea from the producers. She uses the audience to realize she is playing the role of someone she really is not which is what the Hollywood producers of the production wanted her to achieve. Langston Hughes uses Hollywood mammy to expose the racial stereotyping often times used in Hollywood films.
